MTA tracker allows riders to take advantage of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's vehicle monitoring service, MTA Bus Time.

MTA tracker also includes the ability to download route schedules.

MTA tracker allows you to define alerts for MTA routes and stops; get a notification when a vehicle on a specific route is approaching or arriving at a particular stop.

Please send me an email if you find a problem or if you have any comments or suggestions.

** Important! **
Not all MTA routes are currently supported. MTA Bus Time will be available NYC-wide by the end of 2013. See the this site for a list of currently supported routes:

- Put in one or more route numbers, separated by spaces or commas, and see all vehicles on those routes, put in a stop number to see all buses serving that stop, or put in an individual vehicle number (printed on the side of MTA buses).

- You can request a route schedule for any MTA route by entering its number. Schedules can be viewed as origin/destination tables or on a map. On the map, see when the next bus/train is scheduled to arrive by tapping on a stop. See all times for that stop by tapping on the info window that appears.

- Select your current location or an address you enter or select on a map as a search location for MTA stops that are nearby. You can specify a maximum number of stops to return as well as an optional route filter.

- You can define alerts for when a MTA vehicle is approaching or arriving at a particular stop. These alerts are based on distance from the stop, using the shape of the route defined by MTA.

- Because these alerts depend on the vehicle following the shape defineUd by MTA, if the vehicle is on detour, or if the vehicle isn't following the defined route for some other reason, your alert may not trigger as expected.

- Choose an origin, a destination, and the time you would like to either depart or arrive, and the Google Maps app will display the different options available using MTA's buses and trains.

- On the share vehicle screen, enter your vehicle's number and tap the share button. This will let you send to a friend a message with a URL that will show them the progress of your vehicle in real time. The URL will open in MTA tracker if they have the app installed; it will open in any browser if they don't.

Other features:

- Choose a light or dark theme.
- Show satellite imagery and/or color-coded traffic data on the map.
- Optionally keep the map screen from dimming and shutting off.
- Adjust the update interval of MTA vehicle locations.
- Choose a custom ringtone for MTA alerts.

This is not an official MTA app; I am not affiliated with MTA in any way.

Ever since the update to make the bus stop signs a different color then the bus, it made everything easy. The app works just as its described, no issues at all. Now I don't have to wait at the bus stop for the bus to come I can stay at my house like a lazy american. Personally I feel the biggest benefit of bustime is when freezing winter comes around, people won't have to suffer at transfer points

I have tried other apps that they claim they track MTA buses, but they all disappointed me with their poor design and functionality. Although this app still has things to improve, it is so far obviously the best MTA bus time app. At least, this one has a history/favorite list, a map with moving buses on it, alert that works and full support in five boroughs. Most impressively, the author updates t

The UI took a little getting used to at first and often it loads slowly on my phone, especially: when selecting a few items from the menu, it takes about 5 seconds. But the app works, and it works very well. If you love or want more BusTime, this free app is a must-have! My favorite feature is that you can create your own alerts to when a bus is arriving at stops. Also of course the map is very us

If you take the NYC MTA Buses, then you must have this app. It's very easy to look at and there are quite a few options. Being able to overlay the map with traffic data is also great to see the conditions you're dealing with. Track buses, track stations, alerts, the ability to share your bus location - it even gives you the physical bus number (4 digit number). The one suggestion I have now (a

Really convenient, I use it every morning. The times are really accurate. I believe this is the only APP that uses the mta tracker. You can select your routes and save them for later. I highly recommend this app if you take the commute, daily or not.

Great app that utilizes the MTA new GPS technology perfectly. Also try some color coding everything grey just becomes one big blur. Blue for bus stops, green for inbound red for outbound. Also arrows depicting direction of the bus would be a plus! Great job!

I have to say this is by far the best MTA bus tracking app available in Google Play. It provides accurate bus location for all routes using MTA Bus Time. I highly recommend getting this app if you live in NYC and use the bus.
