It's true that our gadgets are quite expensive and have too much data inside that we have to start to being concerned about their security. Sheriff is one of those easy apps that can help a lot. It isn't infallible, though.
Once you download the app, create a 1x1 widget in your homescreen. From there you can get to settings by a double tap. You will notice that a lot options are only available in the paid version, but the basics are there.
Tap the widget to start a count down so the alarm gets armed. According to which options you chose, the alarm will trigger by a loud sound or if the device is taken, unplugged or moved. If you set it so, the device can record a few seconds video or audio. This paid version adds the option of recording personalized messages and a handful of more of features.
Although we should say that the best use we've found for Sheriff is to play a prank on somebody, it never hurts to have a security app. The use you give to it is up to you. Don't forget there's a Lite version to test it out
Many sirens to choose from, or use either speech synthesis for a spoken warning, or record your own message!

Works well only pin feature is pretty bad and it also makes the reset sound after 15 seconds of sounding and then goes back into alarm. Otherwise, good app!

Pretty good app
App works well. I need it to reset after alarming, rather than continuing to sound the alarm every minute. Video recording doesn't work on my DROIDX(70)

I wish you could set the recording time and have alarm reset after a few seconds without disarming, just give a verbal warning and record then reset(70)
Could be so much better.
Fix camera orientation. Provide way to manage recorded videos in app. Automatically email video. Better adjustment for delay until alarm goes off.
