No free wifi: the traveler's nightmare. Trusted review and advice site TripAdvisor presents the solution on a silver platter: downloadable Offline City Guides, including all the hotel, attraction, and restaurant information you already use from the website. Data roaming, begone!

Yup, this series of guides will work totally offline if you take a moment to download the one(s) that interests you onto your device. Select from a huge offering of internationally fascinating cities, from New York to Paris to Tokyo to Marrakech. Taking the time to download the guide when you do have a wifi connection means that it works ultra-fast when you're out actually roaming the mean streets of Rome. You can actually update the app with your own reviews as well, just like on the website - they'll upload when you finally do hook up to a sweet source of wifi goodness.

The guides include self-guided tours, which include both famous landmarks and local secrets. Using the GPS in your phone won't cost you a dime, so you can follow along the maps you've downloaded without a hitch and read extra info about la Sagrada Familia as you ogle its towers.

TripAdvisor Offline City Guides are simple and intuitive to use, it's just as interactive as you need it to be, and it can potentially save you a heap of cash in roaming charges. They're also completely and totally FREE. Highly, highly recommended if you're headed for adventure!

This is a useful offline guide however it does suffer from a few issues. Besides the ones mentioned about items on the map being slightly off, my biggest complaint is the lack of sign in via a Google account. You can sign in via Facebook & using a native Tripadvisor account but not Google, which is something you can do if you're on the Tripadvisor app or website.

This app is very useful, though have some reliability problem in updating the photos and reviews database. One thing I don't understand is the necessity of this app given the TripAdvisor general app. What's the point? Why not giving all of this app's usefulness in the general app?

Downloaded and used it on a trip in Ireland. Guided us to some great restaurants and pubs that we otherwise would have missed. The map connects to Google maps, so directions are a breeze.

We just returned from our trip and we found this app to be very helpful. Lots of information available. My complaint is that when I tried to submit my first ever TripAdvisor review, of the first restaurant we ate in, I was unable to submit it. All I received was a message saying "An unknown error occurred." I tried to submit it several times with no luck. I was able to submit the review first tim

The ui could be more refined and a bit more modern but it does a good job of providing you with important information!
