This application brings you a simple shortcut to launch Navigation for Maps. It relies on your device having the latest Google Maps installed and simply launches the Navigation part of it. If you don't have Google Maps installed, then this application will not work on your device.

Why did I make this?

I used to have a shortcut for Navigation, but for some reason it's disappeared. I think it's down to the latest Google Maps update.

Anyway, the source code for this app is open source, check it out at

My mom couldn't figure out how to put a navigation shortcut on her Nexus 5's homescreen. Turns out it's because there's no way to in Kit Kat! A very silly oversight by Google in the new Maps updates. It took me a lot of futile Googling to find this app, but it's precisely the perfect solution--nothing more, nothing less. Thank you so much! Google doesn't realize that some don't want to press so ma

Not sure why it was buried in the UI but this sure is handy. Thanks.

It's a shame this app is even needed, but since Google removed the blue arrow shortcut from the Maps, this was a must for me (thank you!). Thanks to this shortcut/app I don't have to click that tiny icon in the Google Maps app, that I rarely use for anything else than navigation. And lastly, bonus kudos for no need for any permissions.

You took the the time to do what Google should have left alone from the start. You are an amazing person.

Actually what my mom needed... she hates having to go through several steps to start navigation, this solves the issue. Thank you!

Just wanted to find a simple app which will by-pass Google maps and launch the navigation. Well here it is!! Does exactly what its supposed to, just as if I had that little blue arrow head icon again. Top of the class for designing it.
