Download topo maps for an offline outdoor navigator! Use your phone or tablet as an offroad topo mapping handheld GPS with the bestselling outdoor navigation app for Android! Explore beyond cell coverage for hiking and other recreation.

Download topo maps for the US and many other countries in advance, so you won't need cell coverage for navigation. Also known as offline maps.

Use GPS waypoints from GPX or KML files, or enter your own coordinates using longitude/latitude, UTM, MGRS, or grid reference. Using GOTO makes a waypoint a locus for navigation.

This uses many publicly available map sources as free downloads. Some additional content available as an in app purchase:

-Digital Globe Subscription allows offline storage of high res satellite imagery for much of the world.

    Uk use - excellent way of browsing OS 1:25000 and 1:50000 maps. Areas can be selected for download and used offline when out in the mountains. Amazingly, there is no per tile subscription or fee for this service - a different model to the OS's own very expensive app, which I guess has extra functionalities - but hey, I don't need them. Backcountry Navigator is the real deal for adventuring / mount

    Day hike in Colorado as a hobby whenever I am in the state. Love to turn on my BackCountry Navigator and track the trip. Easy to use and records great information.

    I use this at work laying out natural gas pipelines. I use it when out of town with my family to look around areas where we stay. I love the access to multiple map sources. I use Google Nexus 7" v1.

    Before I got this app, I purchased a Garmin ETrex 20 for about $160. The ETrex is a great improvement over my 15 year old Garmin GPS III, especially because you can download free topo maps into it from GPS File Depot. I found, though, that the small screen on the Etrex was frustrating to use at times if one has experience using large paper topo maps, which also have their drawbacks. On an impul
