Fully offline turn-by-turn navigational system, designed to be used in the car

Navigon is a turn-by-turn navigational system, similar to Google Maps. It's unique in that it's a "real" GPS app - instead of accessing the maps over 3G like Google Maps, you anticipate where you're going in advance and download the detailed map of that area. That way, even if you drop off the grid, the app keeps directing you like nothing's happened.

The interface is solid, and the voice prompts are loud enough to be heard over mild car noise.

However, I'd only recommend purchasing this rather expensive app if you plan on spending quite a lot of time driving somewhere with no signal. Getting access to live traffic updates isn't free (it's included in Google Maps, plus other comparable navigational systems), and you'll also have to pay to re-download maps when they're updated. Honestly, it's a decent enough navigational system, but the price of Navigon feels really out of line with where free technology is these days.

Even if this app was free you'd be better off going with a different navigation app there's a reason they don't give a 7 day trial because you wouldn't buy it if you tried it

I built a route in the app and it says it can't load it and to select settings that are already loaded. Wasted hard earned money on a app that does not function as expected or advertised. So much for being the best navigation app.

Most recent update now no longer automatically connects to my Garmin HUD device when the app is started. I have to go into the settings each time I use the app to get my HUD to work. Very disappointing.

I bought this because I'm a GPS junkie, but this is a very crappy, ugly app. The interface was designed by retarded Martians and is extremely difficult to learn and use. The streets are thin ugly razor lines and the street names are microscopic and impossible to read while driving. Don't be fooled by the "Garmin" name stuck on there. Garmin should hang their heads in shame and whoever designed t

Used to use this even with the quieter voice but now keep getting no SD Memory card when trying to install on my new phone and other apps see it. I hope they will fix this for the new Droid phones as it is nice to have a not connected map that doesn't disappear when I still have GPS UPDATE: After replacing my SD card the app is able to install. Upped the rating. The audio is still bad and doesn

I used to use the ios version of Navigon and then switched to an Android phone. Navigon used to be my goto GPS now on Android it's Like night and day. Clunky, buggy and no longer worth the price. Voice is terrible does not even know RI is a state and calls it "rye" !? Seriously? This is 2014 right? In app options are expensive and now it seems you need to pay for map updates again like the days of
