AviationMaps is a flight planning and in flight support application that runs on Android, the world’s most popular mobile platform! Designed for use by Sport, Recreational, Private, Instrument and Commercial pilots as well as Flight Instructors and Students.
AviationMaps displays your current position and flight plan onto an FAA Sectional, TAC, Low Altitude or High Altitude chart (supports US and limited parts of Canada at this time). On the ground, current weather information (NEXRAD, winds, PIREPs, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, TAFs, and METARs) is overlaid for long range planning, allowing pilots to visualize how current conditions will impact their flight.
AviationMaps can also be used to receive and file an official briefing through DUATS!
Flight plan entry supports victor and jet airways, making entry a snap even in a bumpy cockpit, displaying all waypoints along the way. Once airborne, the actual routes flown can be stored as GPS breadcrumbs, which can later be uploaded and viewed in Google Earth. AviationMaps improves situational awareness with easy in-flight access to airport data (such as runway information, radio frequencies, and traffic patterns) and FlightPad, a semi-automated organization tool including FAA approach plates and airport taxi diagrams.
All charts and plates are viewable via our servers with an Internet connection but must be downloaded for offline use.
Third party devices and programs integration:
-Bluetooth GPS devices (i.e. Dual XGPS150/A and Garmin GLO)
-iLevil with AHRS
-ZAON XRX Traffic
* No portable electronic device can be used as a primary source of navigation information; only panel mounted, TSO certified devices. Please reference AC91-78 and AIM Chapter 1 for more information regarding removal of paper aeronautical charts from the cockpit and use of hand-held devices for navigation.
