Simple to use map based application visualizing real time full area lightning data provided by the blitzortung.org lightning location network project. The current thunderstorm situation at your fingertips.

The raster display ensures a fast performance of the application even if there is a very high thunderstorm activity. Blitzortung.org participants can visualize all stroke locations individually.

Please note that version 1.1.0 does not work on devices where freed wakelocks do not ignore the timeout if they are already free, but crash the application instead. This is solved with 1.1.1.

Using the GPS location provider in combination with the background service can lead to high battery use. Please use the network or the passive location provider for background operation.

    This app does the job. I have watched several cloud to ground strokes nearby the homestead appear seconds after the strokes. I have been thinking of making my own node so I can contribute to this great system. To be honest some less intense strokes do not appear but this is not the apps fault. I never go sailing without it :)

    Hi I´ve been used your app for some month know , one thing that rely annoying me is every time I open the app the map is refreshed and if you are out in the bush with bad connection it takes forever to update , is it possible to cache the map from the last postion? Oh sorry forgot to write I loves this app

    Love this but as of yesterday since my Note 3 did an update, I'm not getting alarms. Edit-location service works differently. ☺

    Provides real time information that many weather apps don't. From data you can interpret direction and intensity of approaching storms. Highly recommended for outdoor activities
