TurboGrafx-16, fully titled as TurboGrafx-16 Entertainment SuperSystem and originally known in Japan as the PC Engine (PCエンジン Pī Shī Enjin?), is a video game console developed by Hudson Soft and NEC, released in Japan on October 30, 1987, and in North America on August 19, 1989. It was the first entry of the fourth generation of gaming, and primarily competed with the soon-to-be-released Sega Mega Drive, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and the Neo Geo AES.
