ARC Squadron: Redux

ARC Squadron: Redux's review

by Peter Warrior

A space shoot'em-up

  • Great epic space opera atmosphere
  • Free to play (IAPs everywhere, though)
  • Instinctive and thrilling gameplay
  • It could have even more features and a deeper storyline

This will be the easiest review today: download it, download it, download it right now.

For those of you who have disobeyed me, well, let me tell that ARC might not be the best game ever, but heck, it's so fun, addictive and, at the same time, so familiar, that it would be a crime if you consider yourself a gamer and aren't downloading it. It's like a space version of Afterburner, or a mobile port of Star Fox, an old school shoot'em-up with a simple goal: have fun and beat alien arses (sounds more elegant in British, doesn't it?)

This game has two faces indeed. The good one, with more than epic and spectacular boss battles in deep space at unsound speed; and the other, with in-app purchases and that awful interface asking for Facebook connect and so. Tolerable as long as you keep on mind that guys at Psyonix must do something for a living.

Did you watch to the Last Starfighter? This is rather like it.
