We're used to play Tower Defense games based on robots or medieval hordes of enemies. Devils at the Gate is offering a new approach: a sort of war between hunters and explorers, between boyscouts and rednecks. Its cartoon-like graphics make it interesting at first sight. What's more, the effects, the way the characters attack, the well-developed and different maps have got us hooked since the first try. That's regarding scenery.
Regarding gameplay, besides the different characters that you unlock as you progress you have also special weapons as mines, bomber, grenades among other that you'll have to unlock to. Killing enemies will provide you of money that you'll have to re-invest on placing more soldiers on the ground, strategically distributed to avoid the enemies passing by or buying more stuff. So staff and stuff, that's how you should invest your money. If you face the hordes of enemies not letting pass a given amount of units, then you level up.
You will also gain achievements depending on your performance. There's an almanac which is a list of features and skills of both enemy's units and yours. Take a glance at it to know how to place them on the ground.
Devils at the Gate has been developed by Feelingtouch, Inc., a settled developer who has already launched some successful titles on the market.
Devils at the Gate is one of the best due to playability, graphics and performance. Highly recommendable, even if you aren't a passionate of tower defense games. Its new approach has definitely spread the range.
