EpiX - Epic Pixel Heroes

EpiX - Epic Pixel Heroes's review

by Peter Warrior

A hysterical kill-everything-moving game

  • Thrilling action
  • Easy gameplay
  • Lovely retro looks.
  • Best features are still to come
  • It might need in-app purchases too soon

"I am Peexel, son of Peexeron, son of Peexelion"

Epix is, in short, an evolved version of bug-smashing games, red laced with 8bit-like graphics and MIDI-like music. You have to survive an overwhelming wave of orcs and trolls by tapping on them and making clever use of the skills (shield, heal...) you will achieve as you advance through the more than half a thousand levels released so far.

Game's as easy as addictive. You tap tap tap tap on whatever moves towards you and, where there are no more orcs left, you are allowed to breathe. Oh, yes, there are several different scenarios and you can get achievements, though game mechanics change at no point. Every stage lasts for from half a minute to a couple of minutes at a time, making of this game a perfect ultra-fast time waster.

The freemium nature of this game will eventually make you purchase boosters to advance sooner than later. Meanwhile, you can enjoy mangling evil armies with your almighty fingertips. In addition, Blinzy Studios announced an upcoming cooperative mode we do really look forward.
