A RPG simulator

Welcome to the last RPG and the last simulator game left to be done, a game that combines all the stuff we love best: we have retro graphics, MIDI-like music, multiple saving slots, true RPG chatter and, overall, a free ticket to ride a Delorean and go back to our beloved early nineties, when Larry Elmore drew what Gary Gygax dreamt.

In Knights of Pen & Paper we get control over several hardened roleplayers and their dungeon master, conveniently sat around the dinner table. Following a cliche yet loving storyline, you have to choose the (random) encounters, undertake more than a hundred quests and manage characters' experience and skills. Meanwhile, there are items galore and you can decorate the room where game is actually played to improve players' mood. This includes chips, pizzas, dungeon chains and nerd stuff.

I wouldn't like to overtalk about this game, so let's go straight to the point: I found it critically awesome, an absolute fumblenessless. Not only is nostalgically enjoyable, but also extremely entertaining. Recommended for any former RPG player, for any wannabe RPG player and, in short, for anyone who doesn't think that RPGs are just games about compiling XPs to raise levels and brag online. Gosh, this game's a beautiful homage to roleplaying and roleplayers. And it's fun. Very fun.

...and don't worry about the $2 price. You spend many times that cost only in marble d20s at the time.

Set out on a grand adventure in this turn-based, retro style, pixel-art RPG, inspired by the great titles of the 90's. This +1 edition features an extended campaign, more dungeons to explore, new attacks to use in combat, and the Tavern – a place to store your adventurers.

Take on the roles of in-game players taking on the roles of their characters in a traditional pen and paper RPG session in the ultimate meta roleplaying experience. As both the playing characters AND the dungeon master, players can choose which battles to fight. Put together a bunch of monsters to make for a challenging fight and your efforts will be equally rewarded!

Choose from multiple classes, such as knights and mages, pick your characters to control those classes, like grandma or kid brother, and take on the loads of quests, monsters, items and equipment littered throughout Knights of Pen & Paper +1 Edition. Blacksmiths, enchanters, mining, gathering, hidden treasures and a whole lot more await, giving players a lot of room to personalize their gameplay experience.

Awesome! A bit dull in the middle of the story but very addictive. Played right through

The blacksmith. It says 40% chance of success, but 1 in 6 is far from this figure. I realize only 6 tries is not much to go on, but why should I expect more and continue to waste gold? Furthermore, why would I spend real money on this. Everything else is great. But this nearly ruins the whole experience for me.

This is perfect for mindless comfort, and the game is built around it. The unique framing device helps.

Absolutely love this game and the blend it brings to the table. Reminds me of D&D with friends, on the go. This ABSOLUTELY need a cloud save support though. I have over 400 days invested on multiple devices with different quest progress... would love to unify this.

I love this game. Its a great "retro" style RPG game. And with the kitchen table style makes it quite it more fun, given it a feel of its own. Any table top gamer should give it try you won't be sorry or disappointed. Also the game is updated fairly often and the development crew are always helpful.
