A tower defense game about global warming

In case you don't know Game the News yet, it's developer who aims to transmit hot and no so hot news through mobile games, which is both a praiseworthy and brave move. After their loable Endgame Syria, here comes Climate Defense, a reinterpretation of defense games trying to instruct what global warming is. In order to do so, you have to prevent black pollution clouds getting to the atmosphere. Your 'towers' will be trees, emission quotas and energy efficiency measures, in this effort to raise awareness and entertain at the same time.

However, tower defense has been reduced to the very minimum here, so it will disappoint any TD gamer. Game rules are nonexistent and there are only two game modes: real (aka impossible) and pretended. It seems there's only one stage and a few options whatsoever. It's nice someone does something to make people aware of global warming, but figure out how great would have it been if it was a deeper and more complete game, instead of this we aren't able to make heads or tails of. Eventual forcecloses (tested on HTC Desire HD, no root) don't help at all.

Perhaps defense genre wasn't the most appropriate to give a Science lesson, or game was too rushed and focused more on standing out amongst the hubbub of so many nonsense apps around. It'd be fine for children nonetheless, or as a curiosity.

Developer's original description available here
Climate Defense is a tower-defense game that explores the issue of climate change. Developed by in one week, Can you absorb the clouds of CO2 before they get into the atmosphere by placing strategic trees? Choose if you want to play the game with more realistic data or the fun version and see how many of the impending effects of climate change you can stop. The climate is in peril and its your job to use strategy and tactics to defend it! Climate Defense is a news-game around the issue of climate change. On the 1st January 2013, the Kyoto Protocol, mired in the bickering of nation states, ended. Yet climate change goes ever onwards, “We’re talking about a fight between human beings and physics. And physics is entirely uninterested in human timetables. Physics couldn’t care less if precipitous action raises gas prices, or damages the coal industry in swing states. It could care less whether putting a price on carbon slowed the pace of development in China, or made agribusiness less profitable. … It’s implacable. It takes the carbon dioxide we produce and translates it into heat, which means into melting ice and rising oceans and gathering storms.” (Bill McKibben)

While I understand the point, there is no way to win in this so called game. Climate is far more complex then this. It's not a game and we CAN Win to a point but the planet has gone through many extreme changes worse than this long before we started screwing it up and we will eventually go to the other extreme ... Extreme Cold its only a matter of time, revolutions and evolution. If you don't unde
