Welcome to the last RPG and the last simulator game left to be done, a game that combines all the stuff we love best: we have retro graphics, MIDI-like music, multiple saving slots, true RPG chatter and, overall, a free ticket to ride a Delorean and go back to our beloved early nineties, when Larry Elmore drew what Gary Gygax dreamt.
In Knights of Pen & Paper we get control over several hardened roleplayers and their dungeon master, conveniently sat around the dinner table. Following a cliche yet loving storyline, you have to choose the (random) encounters, undertake more than a hundred quests and manage characters' experience and skills. Meanwhile, there are items galore and you can decorate the room where game is actually played to improve players' mood. This includes chips, pizzas, dungeon chains and nerd stuff.
I wouldn't like to overtalk about this game, so let's go straight to the point: I found it critically awesome, an absolute fumblenessless. Not only is nostalgically enjoyable, but also extremely entertaining. Recommended for any former RPG player, for any wannabe RPG player and, in short, for anyone who doesn't think that RPGs are just games about compiling XPs to raise levels and brag online. Gosh, this game's a beautiful homage to roleplaying and roleplayers. And it's fun. Very fun.
...and don't worry about the $2 price. You spend many times that cost only in marble d20s at the time.

As a kid I loved text based adventure games, this game is well worth the 99¢. The gameplay is solid, the graphics are retro cute and reminds me of early NES rpgs. Really amazing concept. Unlockable new classes. And heaps of upgradable gear. My only wish
