"Play classic Backgammon"

Reviewed by: Anna Grace / Jun 06, 2011

An easy and addictive way of playing Backgammon in your smarthphone

The ancient game in your smartphone: everyone knows it, although not everybody knows how to play. Still, don't worry if that is the case, since you have a good and easy list of Game Rules to learn.

The options are the following: you can choose to be White or Black, change the level of difficulty from 1 to 5, select the name of rounds and activate or deactivate Doubling Cube. You can play by yourself or with a friend, so this is not only a one player game.

When playing, the board will tell you the Pip Counts (the total distance that pieces from one side must move in order to get them all together into that side's home); so the lower the number, the closer you are to win.
When you roll the dice, the board will specify the legal moves by showing them in green and you'll have to choose your best strategy. Options for undoing, hints and save and quit are also available.

It seems that some users are complaining about the convenience of the opponent's dice rolls, so maybe this can be improved by adding an easier mode. Anyway, we assume that the ways of randomness are inscrutable.

Be sure to check this free-ad version out if you want to entertain yourself by playing a classic game by yourself or with a friend, as well as exercise your mind. AI Factory Limited is specialized in developing classic games for smartphones in an excellent way, so if you like this one you're bound to enjoy the others, such as Chess, Four in a line, Sudoku, etc.

Backgammon is a game of skill and strategy and one of the world's classic parlour games, played for recreation and as a gambling game. Like Mahjong, this is a game that is played in social groups in coffee houses and bars. Historically variants of this game are believed to have originated in Egypt over 3000 years ago, but was picked up by the Romans and then later to India. It also spread to east Asia, but was then largely replaced by Xiangqi (Chinese chess). It is now very popular in the west.

Best backgammon app I've found. Needs more legible game stat reporting, though, if you want 5 ★s

Okay... I'm getting hurt by AI's doubles. I checked stats as suggested. Over the last several games, AI got 29 doubles and I got 19. Also AI keeps getting double 5s. Something is wrong here. Is it the time of day? I'm guessing the clock is seeding the RNG

Have you ever played a real life game of backgammon and not rolled a single double? I have in a real life game. Hell, have you ever played a real life game and only rolled 1 double for the whole game? I have done that too. Have you seen the CPU since the

Claims of no cheating go out the window when faced with brutal stats - I've played 117 games on level 3 and the app has roled itself exactly 10% more doubles (493 vs 448). (Entering real-world dice evens the odds, but it is annoying when playing by onesel
