"From the board to the screen with no leaks on playability"

Catan is the Android version of the popular board game "Settlers of Catan"

If ever played board game "Settlers of Catan", you already know how addictive it is. Now the game came to Android keeping the essence of its original gameplay and rules. Bear in mind that this is the basic version of Settles of Catan, with no expansions packs. You can upgrade to the expansions packs buy purchasing them from the in-app store.

From those who haven't ever played, on "Settlers of Catan" you embody one out of four settlers that has reached an island named Catan. Your purpose is to become the one who first rules the island. In order to achieve it you will have to earn 10 points of victory (or more, depending on the goal you set) before than your opponents do. You will get points of victory by different ways: building settlements and upgrading them to cities, collecting development cards, making large routes or using knight cards. The expansion packs add more variables. In your rise to the throne, you will have to collect different materials, trade with your opponents or internationally (with the bank), build roads, settles and cities. Do it strategically, and smartly, if you want to be the first on reaching the needed points of victory.

Catan's Android version has been certainly well-crafted. It's been set in a cute layout and it's really easy to get the hang of it. You can play two different modes: "custom" which allows you to play against CPU or real players (up to 3 opponents) with the basic rules. You can choose among different characters. Each one of them have different skills. The "campaign mode" only can be played by upgrading to the Seafarers expansion pack from in-app purchase. There are more expansions packs though.

Catan has been developed by USM, an emerging developing company who has also launched another great game "Ingenious".

"Catan", the legendary strategy game provides gaming fun anytime, anywhere.

True to the original game, you can compete with up to four players for the most settlements, the longest roads and the largest army. You can trade with each other and claim the precious land with all its resources.

Update 4.0 of the game allows you to challenge other Catan fans online via cross-platform multiplayer to prove your strategy skills.
But also various computer opponents, each with their own individual characteristics, will prove themselves worthy competitors: the pirate Jean, who knows no compromise, Vincent the merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated, Sean the knight, who takes what is rightfully his...

The popular Catan expansions "Seafarers" and "Cities and Knights" are available as In-App purchases.

The complete Seafarers expansion includes more than 10 additional scenarios with an extensive campaign. Become Harbormaster, discover new islands and extra game elements like ships, gold fields, treasures and pirates. Ahoy!

The Cities and Knights expansion introduces various new gameplay mechanics that add even more variety to Catan. Catan FAQ:

Question: Why do I have to download additional files after purchasing?
Answer: The download from Google play includes the basic game data and a tool that will determine your device’s display resolution and then download the optimal graphics data for your device.

Question: Which Android security permissions does Catan need and why?
Answer: “Storage” to write data to the SD or move the game data, “Network communication” to download game data and access the In App Store and “system tools” to check if Catan is already running to resume a game.

Question: I bought one of the expansions but after an update, reinstallation of Catan or after restoring my phone the expansion seems gone?
Answer: Don’t worry; your initial purchase is already saved in your Google account. However for technical reasons you have to select “Buy” again. Confirm and a message will tell you that you’ve already purchased it. You will NOT be billed twice!

Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating from or when restoring my phone. Is there any way to restore it?
Answer: Savegames from old versions can usually be restored automatically. For all other cases we’ve integrated a cheat code: Enter campaign mode and go to select player. Enter „CatanWarp*“ (* = 1–15, e.g "CatanWarp5") as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button. Enter your phone’s settings menu. Select applications/manage applications/Catan/ and then “Force Stop”. Restart Catan. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number by selecting “New scenario *”.

Fun game. Crashes with no Internet connection on my G4S. Even weakest AI players beat you easily. Dice and Robber seem to favour AI heavily. More tweaks needed to make this 5 star.

A great user experience from start to finish. Anyone who loves the board game version of Catan will love this game.

This is a great game and used to be stable prior to later updates. These past few months the game is so unstable it crashes regularly and is nearly unplayable. Issues must be fixed!

Really, I love this game. We own the original board game, the Nurnberg special edition and the card game. This game on the phone is amazing! We play it regularly online with my family and we have massive amounts of fun. It's superb. Why 4 stars then? I feel the poor multiplayer interface (getting the game going), the lack of online chat, the stupid AI and the constant crashing when minimising the

Great mobile adaptation. I've had no issues with freezing or force closing. But the AI algorithms seem stacked in their favor. First off, I rarely have trades accepted, even when offered at 3:1. Secondly, the dice rolls hardly seem random, even the dice roll start tracker backs me up on this. Finally, the 7s never get rolled early game. They seem to only get rolled late game, and regardless of wh

Just downloaded to my new phone and it won't open. Comes up "checking files" and then closes. Worked fine on my Galaxy S3.
