Place letters on the grid to score the most points possible against the AI or another player

There's a reason the classics have stuck around forever - they're solid games built on a foundation of the morals of our Founding Fathers. Alright, maybe it's just good design - ORT Software's CrossCraze is an app in this classic vein.

Place your letter tiles on the board to form words along the grid. Hit the bonus tiles to multiply your points. You can choose to play against the AI at all different levels of difficulty, or if you upgrade to the Pro version, you'll be able to face off against a human opponent. Choose from loads of different board layouts and styles, plus many different modes of play. There are even hint options for when you get stuck.

CrossCraze supposrts US or International English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Dutch or Danish. Whew! Way to go, polyglots!

It may not be the most original app, but ORT Software's CrossCraze is a very well designed wordplay game with a heap of different options so that you can nerd out as long as you like.

Developer's original description available here
CrossCraze is a classic word strategy game where you place letters on a board to form crosswords. Play solo against the computer or with a friend. Choose from US or International English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Dutch or Danish.

Frustrated by the time-wasting and cheating found on online word games such as Scrabble, Words With Friends and Wordfeud? CrossCraze lets you choose a computer opponent to match your own skill level. Plus, it never cheats, never takes more than a moment to move and never abandons a game before the end. How refreshing!

★ No ads and no intrusive permissions required.
★ Play offline against the computer or a friend.
★ 20 board layouts, from 15x15 squares up to 21x21.
★ 4 different board styles.
★ 'Tile Stacking' mode (place new tiles over old ones).
★ 4 skill levels of Artificial Intelligence.
★ 8 languages with over 1.7 million words.
★ All words are sorted by difficulty.
★ Add or disallow words as you like.
★ Instant score preview.
★ Detailed game statistics.
★ 'Hint' option for when you're stuck.
★ Games saved automatically on exit.
★ Optimized for both phones and tablets.
★ Displays in either portrait or landscape mode.

Choose from two game modes: 'Classic', where new letters must be placed next to existing ones (e.g. change SCRABBLE to SCRABBLES); and 'Tile Stacking', where new tiles can also be dropped over old ones (e.g. change SCRABBLE to SCRAMBLE).

CrossCraze is a fun way to exercise your brain, expand your vocabulary or even practice a foreign language. It's also a great training aid for fans of other word games such as Scrabble, Upwords and Words With Friends. Whether you're a word game novice or a Scrabble tournament superstar, CrossCraze has a skill level to match your abilities.

Note: The game can be played in 8 languages, but all menus and prompts are in English.

★★ This 'FREE' version is fully playable and contains no ads, but some non-essential features are restricted: there is only one board layout and one board style; 'tile stacking' mode is unavailable; there is only one computer skill level; you can't pass-and-play with a friend; you can't name your players; and statistics aren't stored. Upgrade to the 'PRO' version for the full experience. ★★

Like a lot but at times seems like droid has huge letter advantage. I like the challenge though!

Better before. You cannot sqeeze an "illegal" word in now, like (oz). See if it changes back. However still good game.

Pre-update was better. Screen animations are a backward step........still brilliant game.

I'm finding that I'm letting my coffee go cold, missing the end of TV shows and going to bed too late. The free version is set at a comfortable but stretching level. I think I preferred it when one manually returned tiles after an invalid word, as editing your mistake was quicker but that's personal preference and a minor thing. Love it.

Allows 2 player pass n play without Internet unlike Scrabble. Like the new Pro version update that requires player to check before tiles revealed. Have noticed on Android that have to back out & resume game as it freezes. All in all its worth it.
