Yes, this is it. The very own Square defense game, set with characters and feeling of Final Fantasy Tactics, but chewed and chopped to fit a very much simpler game.Mechanics are the same as anywhere else: you have to defend a path from an incoming single file of dreadful enemies (all the dreadful they are able to be in FF Tactics design) by placing towers aka units along the way. Yes, it's strategy, though it hasn't strategy at all.
However, if Square did this on purpose, we should have to find out why, and the answer comes to mind as soon as you play the first levels. Even though it's a pretty typical defense game and doesn't pretend to be anything else, it's overwhelmingly difficult. You have to ration every single gold coin if you want to get perfect scores, and as -fortunately- there are more units than in the vast majority of similar games, if a strategy doesn't work at all, fret not, there are several zillion different combinations awaiting to be tried.
A special mention is deserved by the music, which has always been Square's signature. A the wide array of winks to Final Fantasy paraphernalia, chokobos includes, is the cherry on top.
Recommended for hardcore defense gamers. This is your biggest challenge.

*Recommended handset OS : Android OS 2.1 and 2.2
It takes up only a fraction of my nexus 5s screen and is unplayable because of it.
Worked great on my HTC Evo 4g lte so i upgraded and its 1/6 of the screen. :( use to be a great gane though...
It's not as good as dungeon defenders but still pretty fun
The game itself is great, but on HD devices (that don't have Honeycomb-zooming) the play field is tiny. Not pixelated... Literally tiny... 80% of the screen are black.
No s4 support even with 4.4. No refund after I tried again in 4.4. Not happy
Can't play due to fractionally small screen. This is a paid app and needs some serious updates. Either fix the game or reimburse your customers.
If the game was full screen it would be playable
