A board game based on Lovecraft's writings.
Elder Sign combines two things: HP Lovecraft's universe and deep, really deep board gaming. If you dislike one or the other, leave now or forever hold your peace.
In short, this game is about some unpronounceable ancient evil Lovecraftian gods looking for their way to reach this plane of existence and wipe mankind off. A group of bold adventurers must prevent it by exploring a museum and controlling several cursed artifacts. At first you can play on easy difficulty, but two additional difficulty settings can be unlocked via a visit to the in-app shop where you can exchange out-app money for the aforementioned add-ons.
More info: it's a dice game, but there are also cards and a randomly generated board (museum). Every character has their own characteristics, which are quite hard to understand at first. Gameplay is complicated and requires lots of attention.
Graphics get well along the game, giving a noir feeling without losing the board game essence. It's a very good board game, and as such, will be loved by those few who get it and understand it's very complex gameplay, but dismissed by the rest.

Can you stand against the impending arrival of a malevolent Ancient One?
While Elder Sign: Omens brilliantly conveys the spirit of the Elder Sign dice game, a few noteworthy differences were adopted to optimize the mobile play experience:
-A limited number of available Ancient Ones streamlines the game play experience while offering adjustable levels of difficulty. Face Yig in normal mode, Azathoth or Tsathoggua in hard mode, or Cthulhu or Ithaqua in very hard mode (in-app purchases required to face Cthulhu and Ithaqua).
-A number of subtle changes increase the peril of defending humanity. For example, the random negative effects drawn every midnight are more challenging, and the frequency of “no effect” results has been decreased. Monsters have likewise been altered to make them more difficult.
-Finally, there are no Ally cards in Elder Sign: Omens, which further streamlines play while increasing the overall challenge.
- Improved compatibility with some Android devices
- Minor bug fixes

This looks and sounds gorgeous, very much a professional produced game with bags of atmosphere. Slick interface, polished but with a solid game beneath based on the Elder Signs board game.
Was difficult at first but once I worked it out I found I couldn't put it down!
Nice but to easy, make Arkham Horror.
The game is put together well, but the "luck" (or lack there of) makes it unplayable. I'm sorry that I paid for this game.
I can't say how well it recreates the board game experience, but the game is basically throwing dice to eliminate obstacles. There's a little strategy involving character selection and use of items, but in general you're hoping the random number generated goes in your favor. Graphically, it looks nice. The controls aren't very intuitive. Prepare to lose and win and feel pretty non-plussed about th
I have never played a game like this and I am being beaten badly. This game is a learning experience for me. After playing this for a week, I may go out and buy the real board game or Arkham Horror.
Perfect conversion of the board game. Beautiful artwork.
