A board game based on Lovecraft's writings.
Elder Sign combines two things: HP Lovecraft's universe and deep, really deep board gaming. If you dislike one or the other, leave now or forever hold your peace.
In short, this game is about some unpronounceable ancient evil Lovecraftian gods looking for their way to reach this plane of existence and wipe mankind off. A group of bold adventurers must prevent it by exploring a museum and controlling several cursed artifacts. At first you can play on easy difficulty, but two additional difficulty settings can be unlocked via a visit to the in-app shop where you can exchange out-app money for the aforementioned add-ons.
More info: it's a dice game, but there are also cards and a randomly generated board (museum). Every character has their own characteristics, which are quite hard to understand at first. Gameplay is complicated and requires lots of attention.
Graphics get well along the game, giving a noir feeling without losing the board game essence. It's a very good board game, and as such, will be loved by those few who get it and understand it's very complex gameplay, but dismissed by the rest.

While Elder Sign: Omens brilliantly conveys the spirit of the Elder Sign dice game, a few noteworthy differences were adopted to optimize the mobile play experience:
-A limited number of available Ancient Ones streamlines the game play experience while offering adjustable levels of difficulty. Face Yig in normal mode, Azathoth or Tsathoggua in hard mode, or Cthulhu or Ithaqua in very hard mode (in-app purchases required to face Cthulhu and Ithaqua).
-A number of subtle changes increase the peril of defending humanity. For example, the random negative effects drawn every midnight are more challenging, and the frequency of “no effect” results has been decreased. Monsters have likewise been altered to make them more difficult.
-Finally, there are no Ally cards in Elder Sign: Omens, which further streamlines play while increasing the overall challenge.
- Fixed problem with the user being able to select the same investigator multiple times.
- Fixed a problem with the scoreboard not remembering the entered name.

I'm a big fan of the boardgame and expansion and this captures the feel perfectly.
The main game and Cthulu expansion keeps me playing over and over. After defeating Cthulu many times I decided to try the next expansion. I enjoy difficult games, but the Ithaqua expansion is ridiculous...to the point that it isn't even remotely fun. If
Good digital conversion of the game. The added visuals and sound effects amplify the moody experience.
I am an avid strategy gamer. The game looks very interesting on face value. Many different characters and challenges made me think it would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately the issue that really ruined my game experience was the absurd difficulty. I don't
Challenging and beautiful art. The expansions are well worth it, and keep game play fresh.
Being a huge fan of horror and Lovecraft this was a must own game. Never played the board game version of it. Thank you, Fantasy Flight.
Own the boardgame and this version is excellent as well. Nice to get a game that's not trying to drain me dry with microtransactions.
