This app makes it possible to play chess variants on a smaller board. These variants have basically the same pieces and rules as standard chess, but are being played on a much smaller board. In order to adapt to each individual skill level, it is furthermore possible to configure the difficulty of the computer.

As this is just a reduced version of chess, not all of the advanced rules of standard chess are being covered. The game therefore can not end in a tie and there is no such thing as en passant or castling. You additionally have to change the rules in order to have the default winning condition of regular chess, since mini chess usually ends when the king is being captured.

I've always enjoyed playing like this, faster, more fun and the best way to learn the game, its how Bobby Fischer wrote his book, and out of hundreds of chess apps this the only one I've seen of this style.Good Move!

Features a wide variety of games and modes for various board sizes against both, AI and local competition.

I love that the app has almost all the mini-chess variations that I can think of. Sometimes I just want the movement of the pieces to be more fluid-like. Other than that, it's great that it free, but I probably would have paid for the app.

Great bite sized variations of chess. Flaw... Game loses at a stalemate even when win by checkmate is selected. Also you can be forced into endless loops against the ai without a stalemate ever being called.

Played only the simplest of the simplest settings, and enjoyed it a lot. Great way to gain insights into the basics of chess thinking. For when you do not have the time or the energy for a full 8x8 game.
