Let's try to review this straight to the point:
There is even a tutorial (yes, a tutorial, you know, to learn how to play) just in case you just arrived from another planet or have been living in an underground bunker last 25 years. Okay, so you have indeed been living in a Tetris-free zone lately? You have to guide the dropping pieces in order to fill complete rows. If you clear four lines at once, it's called Tetris. Pieces can be turned to fit wherever you land them and fall faster every time you complete a given number of lines. If pieces top out, you lost.
Ads placed outside the playing zone and between stages, absolutely non-intrusive. Fifteen difficulty levels ranged from boring to impossible, packed in Marathon mode. The hold option -so popular nowadays- has been added. Therefore, this original and genuine Tetris is indistinguishable from itself or any of its replicas. It doesn't bring anything new beyond a debatable remix of the original theme song. And it seems that the highest spheres of EA are reducing staff and atrezzo costs, because we can't enjoy either the Cossack or the Kremlin anymore.
In the end, Tetris will be Tetris ever after. However, we'd like that it brought back those original Tetris features we miss so much. There are no more stages with random bricks from the start; 4x1 pieces are blue instead of red; you can't compete to the death with your best friend...it may seem awkward, but this TETRIS® is just plain Tetris. Maybe it has lost its charm or we have fully grown up, but we expected far more from it. It neither fetches the old Russky essence nor brings to light anything really new.
This free version doesn't include the new Magic mode but if it did, it won't be enough to change its 3/5 rating.
