"Final Fantasy saga"

Reviewed by / Nov 19, 2013

Official Square Enix port to mobile devices

Yes, this is what you were looking for, no matter if you enjoyed them back at the time or are discovering them right now. You can be a child trapped in an adult body recalling your youth in front of a TV plugged to a miracle machine called NES or an arqueologist of gaming in his or her continue mission to understand where we come from.

This is, here it is, the official port of Final Fantasy games for mobile devices, brought by the same people who did the original games back then. Graphics have been face lifted, but not revamped. Music isn't MIDI anymore, but sounds better. Storyline is the same, step by step, without alternate endings nor new spells or whatsoever.

There has been a deluge of debates about why, when and how should Square dig its jewels up, and here they are for you to have your own opinion. An opinion that costs $16, by the way. These games are as great as they were, and they can openly compete with any modern game in terms of playability. And they are truly retro, the best way you can have of experiencing the real retro feeling.

Recommended for everyone, more for what they mean and are rather for their technical performance. They are expensive, though. Expensive living history.

Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics.

Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come.

Very good gameplay. I do agree the new controls/ui are kind of cumbersome, the old one worked why change it? The save to SD card feature sounds awesome, but I can't figure out how to use it or if its compatible with my phone, because it doesn't have a SD slot using USB otg cable/removable storage NOTE: None of my devices are running Lollipop so I can't comment on that.

Why are the bonus dungeons missing? Its 2015! I love my ffs games but come on, spent ten bucks for no bonus content. 3 stars for that. Btw the direction pad actually grows on you after awhile, at first i too didnt like it, after playing for a few hours i cant imagine it not being the way it is.

The new control scheme is the absolute worst. It's difficult to even move forward and the dpad is way too big. It wouldn't be an issue if there was an option to change back to the old dpad that, you know, actually worked.

Really all the square enix games on android could use controler support. The touch screen controlls just aren't very good.
