A wild mix of comicbook, movie soundtrack and oneiric plot made by the same guys who release a Final Fantasy game every year? How can you tell whether you're living inside a dream or you're dreaming your daily life? Is there room for Philosophy, albeit tiny, in the games industry?
Imaginary Range starts as a comic book where you have to pay attention to find bonuses. This bonuses come as items that will be used later or painted faces that are exchanged for coins, which unlock sections of the gallery. Every some frames there's a minigame you have to overcome in order to continue reading. Minigames can be like a flight control, a puzzle or a blasting bubbles game. The alternation of reading a gorgeous manga-like comic and playing those fun minigames creates a whole new playing experience.
However, not all that glitters is gold. The plot background should be deeper, minigames could be far more elaborated and there aren't any choices to take so the outcome is a linear, simple game. It may be even disappointing.
This first chapter is free and has no ads in. When Square launches chapter two we suppose we'll have to pay for.
Overall, one could say that the result isn't outstanding, but it's absolutely worth trying. We'll always have Paris.
