Expert's Review

"From the unfathomable depth of yoreness"

Reviewed by / Mar 13, 2012

True 8 bit entertainment on your device

Legends of Yore is a Gauntlet-like dungeon crawler game with every single feature worthy of it. Retro graphics, retro music and retro gameplay.

Legends of Yore is quite suited for self-taught people. Move your character tapping on where you want to go, attack an enemy tapping on him and collect gold and treasure at the same time you earn experience to improve your prowess and spells. Well, the same as any other old fashioned RPG, maybe with a touch of humor and self-parody. Three character classes to choose among (warrior, archer and mage), hundreds of items, characters to dialogue with and, above everything else, endless mazes, dungeons full of foes, more mazes and more foes to beat.

At the end of the day, you'll try to figure how a game like Legends... has been able to get you hooked on it. Graphics are how they are because they have to be so. In this game everything is as it should be. Whether you like it or not, depends on you.

This is the lite version of Legends of Yore. It's free of ads but you will only be able to reach level 20, which is fair enough. The best tip: if you get lost, tap on the map!

You need to get your facts straight, the artwork used was made by Onyx (i think) for a contest and everyone can use them freely, as making games out of those was the idea. Besides LoY came before RotMG.
