Pebble Universe

Expert's review

A casual game that's all about timing.

  • Design and sound
  • Original gameplay
  • Overall, no complaints

"Rocks are rollin'!"

Acclaimed in the iOSphere, comes to the Androidverse Pebble Universe. When you first have a look at it, at the overall look, screenshots and video, it may seem a little bit too rovioish, but fortunately it has its own character.

Gameplay consists on tapping on every pebble to let him roll slope downward. If it meets another pebble, they both explode, able to destroy any evil black shadow monster whatsoever the resulting pellets hit. When you get used to it, new elements will be introduced into the playground to either hasten or slow down pebbles, and monsters won't be still anymore and start to hover around. Likewise, you will eventually get access to new pebbles with new abilities.

A nice design and sound work has been done to give this game a unique childish-yet-cool look. Although it isn't the height of innovation, it should be highlighted as a virtue, because it's actually very well done.

Game's free to play, though you can unlock all worlds at once for 1$ and help Itatake by the way. In short, it's a great game, perhaps too technical for the more casual games and maybe not strategic enough for the hardcore ones. Either way, recommended.
