"The Quirkiest Tower Defence Game Goes Freemium"

Build an army of 49 plants to attack 26 varieties of zombies in 50 frantic levels. Supported by ads, this version of the game is a great way to get stuck into what becomes a complex strategy adventure for free. It's a humorous treat.

The game looks simply fantastic: flowers have personality (frenetic pea-shooters, smiley sunflowers), and the zombies are pretty darn ghoulish. The pace of the game is perfect, introducing new enemies at just the right speed, and never becoming unmanageable. You can unlock mini-games too, like Wall-nut bowling and Whack a Zombie.

You don't get all the modes of the PC version, like Survival. It doesn't run quite as smoothly either (given your mobile device's smaller CPU). You could pay 99¢ for the ad-free version.
