    Tap Legend™'s review

A mix of management and RPG with tactic touches.

    • Amount of units, items and upgrades
    • Long term gaming
    • Too complex for non-hardcore gamers.

    "Once upon a tap"

Tap Legend (aka Reignage) is a quite strange game, not only because the original developer description is sparing with what you can expect of it, but also because it's a potpourri of related genres. At first glance, it's an RPG: you have a character, experience points and equipment. Your character isn't customizable, but you can choose among four different ones when you start a game. However, you'll soon will realize that your character is more like a general, though there are also heroes to command your armies, so it'd be better if you think of him or her as a major, because you have to manage your cities regarding taxes, levies and building construction and repairing. Yes, all at once. Hardcore gamers, come along, please.

This game requires to sign up first to log in to a server. Then, you will start what we can call a tutorial, though the myriad of options and stuff to learn is far beyond your reach. Fortunately, you can't use all of them when you start, but this doesn't mean you will be able to assimilate all the available options. Here and there are tech trees, upgrades, buildings, items, training and more upgrades, because nearly everything seems upgradeable. Therefore, be prepared to dedicate a long while to this game before you can fully understand what you are doing. Meanwhile, your village will be surrounded by enemy armies and strange events will take place, such as a locust plague.

Artwork is pretty nice, but you can't either zoom in on your buildings or on the battlefield, and hero or monster drawings aren't available to be enjoyed when you want. It seems there aren't sound effects or music at all and animations exist, though they aren't remarkable. As a side note, if you push 'back' button just once you'll return to your homescreen.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, it's all about a kingdom that must be saved from diabolical forces and, well, you can imagine the rest. You can interact with other players, particularly for trading purposes, and solve challenges to boost your income or harvest. Long story short, a game that will chase away casual players, but can certainly lure hardcore gamers for a very long time.
