    Fester Mudd: Episode 1's review

Fester Mudd: Episode I is a point-and-click adventure inspired by the classic of this genre

    • Faithful to the classic titles of this genre
    • Point and click control system
    • Original storyline, hilarious dialogues
    • There's no full screen mode into some stages
    • Pixels are great but graphics should look neater
    • This is just a limited-free version (in-app upgrade)

"And I want to be a pir... a gold digger!"

NOTE: This is just a limited-free version. Players can't leave the town unless they upgrade to the full version.

Look at the screenshots up there. Did you feel it? If you felt like butterflies in the stomach means that you played one (or all) of the classic point-and-click adventure games such a Monkey Island, Indiana Jones: The fate of Atlantis, Loom or The Day of the Tentacle. Legendary games that kept forever the spirit of that times.

However, thanks to Replay Games Inc. we can enjoy again - this time in our mobile devices - an old-school adventure, one of those that combines challenging puzzles, hours of hilarious dialogues and retro pixelated graphics.

Fester Mudd isn't about becoming a pirate or discovering the mysteries of Atlantis Island. It is set in the Far West, actually, on the gold-digging times. Actually, the story starts when Mudd receives a letter from his brother in which he's told his brother found gold and he needs Mudd's help to collect all of it. From that moment, he's got involved on an adventure that will bring him through old saloons, stables, desert, canyons and mines; with dozens of characters and items to collect and combine.

Point and click isn't the most comfortable way to control characters on a mobile platform though, specially if the screen isn't too large. However, keeping this control system enables Fester Mudd keeping the essence of the classics. Same can be said about graphics: pixelated retro graphics with that typical adventure scenery makes all the difference.

In brief, if you are passionate of retro adventures, you shouldn't miss this one: graphics, control system, humor and lots of references to the classics.

It's sad this game has such poor reviews! I haven't encountered a single bug so far and the gameplay is excellent! Thank you for creating such a great game, very reminiscent of the old Sierra games!

Thoroughly enjoy these sorts of games. Some people are complaining about the game crashing - it would consistently crash for me on opening, but would then always work at the 2nd attempt, costing me a whopping 10 seconds of my life each time. Oh the hardship! The game itself is just the right amount of tricksy so I didn't get too stuck for too long at any point. Gutted that Episode 2 is not going to be made.

I like the game and ended up buying the full version but everytime I try to use the clothes pin he says ow and takes it off so I can't go any farther I feel like I've tried everything.
