sugar, sugar's review

Draw paths to pour the requisite sugar in the cups

  • Unique path-drawing mechanic
  • The idea of sugar and mugs adds a cute factor
  • Growing difficulty with each level
  • Really minimalist graphics and sound
  • Would be nice to see more complexity

Bart Bonte's sugar, sugar game is a simple, abstract trajectory puzzle. The cups on the screen each require a certain quantity of sugar ganules, which pour out of a comma above. Draw paths to change their direction and fill the cups. Sometimes they'll have to pass through a color filter; other times you may need to reverse gravity. It's a minimalist puzzle made cute mostly by the fact that it's supposedly "sugar" and not simply pixels - that said, it does somehow hook you enough to want to see what happens on the next level. It's several steps above mindless match-3, but probably not for card-carrying members of Mensa either.
