Bejeweled is a total classic in the world of matching games. You've probably played it: it was popular even before Candy Crush. The objective, of course, consists of matching three or more jewels of the same color in order to achieve a high score in every one of the levels. There's classic Bejeweled, Zen, Diamond Mine and Blitz, which is available as a separate application.
In Classic, you need to make rows of three or more to create power-ups until you achieve the needed score. In Zen, you need to forget about time: you can play endlessly. Meanwhile, in Diamond Mine, you need to dig down the ground and clear all the ground tiles.
Finally, in the Blitz version of the game, you have 60 seconds to do as many matches as possible.
The design is bright and colorful, perfect for the type of game this is. Bejeweled manages to become addictive and thrilling, especially if you're playing the Blitz version of the game. There are four different game modes, so boredom isn't really possible.
It doesn't include any original features and ends up resembling too many other games that we've played a thousand times before.
Original review from Jul 02, 2013:
Bejeweled is a popular puzzle game featuring color jewels where you need to match three or more of the same color and witness beautiful effects with the power-up gems like: flame, star and hypercubes.
Tap and slide the gems so as to move them and match them, trying to create combos at all times so as to get a higher score. Also, get help from the hint button whenever you get stuck and don't forget you only have 60 seconds to match as many gems as possible. As you keep playing, you will be able to unlock new features.
The graphics are smooth and impressive, the game is really fun and its addiction powers make up for the lack of originality in both the idea and gameplay. You can play for a long time and still have fun matching and exploding gems and using power-ups to increase your score.
EA Swiss Sarl is the developer of Bejeweled Blitz and the premium version for Andrfoid. An elegant app, well-designed and with an engaging gameplay for all ages, you won't mind if you've already played it a thousand times.
