Based on Speed Ball (back to the Amiga 500, dude!), PunkBall pretends to bring back that game mechanics to our Android devices. The idea doesn't have to smell fishy at all, but the truth is that the result leaves much to be desired.
The essence of the game is to grab the ball and try to score as many goals as you can. When you hold the ball you can throw it or pass it, when you haven't you can tackle your rivals to recover it. There's an instructions link where everything's explained -in a web layout, though.
Gameplay is clumsy at least. Joystick and action button are both smooth, but overall the game doesn't offer many options or strategies or stats or whatever. Just grab the ball and run, better if you don't try to pass, fool the keeper and score. More or less, that's how it works. There are items scattered around the arena to run faster or throw stronger.
We have little else to say. It's still in beta development and has still a lengthy path ahead. You can upgrade to the paid version in order to help the developer to fix what has to be fixed and add new and promising features (multiplayer and so on)
We recommend to seasoned gamers to give PunkBall a go and try to comment or suggest improvements. We'll keep abreast of.
