1. Select option on your phone to add new shortcuts to your desktop (e.g. long press on an empty desktop area).
2. Select Better Direct Dial from the list of available shortcuts.
3. Pick a phone number from one of your contacts or enter it manually.
4. Set a custom label for your shortcut.
5. Use the contact's thumbnail photo if exists, or choose any custom graphic from your gallery.

Works very well, quick dial shortcuts, customize icons. Update messed all my current ones and have to remake them. Otherwise great

Installed this after the stock dialer shortcut kept on disappearing. Would be nice to be able to add call or message overlay icons and/or edit the text, since I might have multiple shortcuts for the same contact on the same screen.

If you start the app from your apps list, all you see is the instructions/donation screen. To actually use it you have to start the shortcut creation mechanism. Either long press on an empty screen area or click the + softkey.
