The making of it usually begins with a script (written by a screenwriter) that gets purchased by a studio or a producer. The producer is the person who is responsible for coordinating aspects of the film like budget and scheduling. The producer plans out how the project will be made and usually starts by hiring a director!
The director’s job is to bring the script to life on camera. He will usually identify themes or feelings that he or she wants to convey to its audience and will then assemble all the other people who will be needed, such as costume-designers and makeup artists. Special effects crew and set designers are included too. Cameramen and cinematographers (who supervise and instruct the cameramen) are also needed. But the only people that we can see on our screens are of course, actors!
The actual filming can be a slow process – often a director will want to get several “takes” (versions) of a scene or moment and usually only the equivalent of a few minutes of the movie are finished in one day’s work. Scenes are also usually not shot in order, so once filming is completed, the director must then work with editors to piece them all together. The entire process from acquiring the script to editing the scenes generally takes months or even years! Once it’s ready, it is then distributed to theatres so it can be watched and enjoyed by people like you!
The invention of the technology for making it is usually credited to work done in the U.S. by Thomas Edison and in France by the Lumière brothers in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Lumière brothers’ movie Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory is often considered the world’s first motion picture! Its first public showing happened on March 22, 1895.
The best movies evoke tears or laughter. The one evoking terror and/or mystery in a truly personal way is also good one. Anything less serves no purpose other than to shove mindless, forgettable fodder in our face and line Hollywood’s pockets. Some of the good and popular among all generations is Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003).
People love It because Depp clearly steals the show. For those who actually enjoy—oh, say plot or fine acting—PoTC is a fun-filled, action-packed adventure on the high seas.
The Lion King (1994) was very popular among adults. Most of them love it because it’s loved by children—and keeping them quietly occupied is no doubt a benefit, either. However, both love it because it takes all-too-familiar human dilemmas and personifies them with the help of lions, birds, hyenas and more.
Another one out of a wide range is Training Day (2001). Second, Training Day is irresistibly good fun in its portrayal of a “respected”, veteran detective—with his ‘to catch a wolf you gotta be a wolf’ philosophy—that’s, in reality, actually more criminal than he is cop.
You probably love watching it. They can be funny or imaginative but inspiring too.
