Blizzard's official World of Warcraft collectible card game
Collectible card games have enjoyed so far a placid existence in the mobile space-time continuum, and many companies have rushed to stick their flag and attract players the sooner the better, given the long term dedication this kind of games require.
However, Blizzard chose to not hurry up what could be its best move to blitz into mobile gaming, and developed Hearthstone with care. This also raised some expectations, and comparisons with other competitors are unavoidable. Fortunately, Hearthstone is a little jewel, able to lure usual CCG gamers but also, hence its main goal, to bring and expand WOW users experience.
As no one has ever dared to recreate a trading card game on mobile (where players can exchange cards between each other), Hearthstone creates a system in which you can disenchant cards to earn "magic dust" and create those you really want. We've seen this elsewhere, but here is a key element of the game an ensures your deck is overall of your liking and you play with the characters you like most.
Artwork is gorgeous, Blizzard's signature, but gameplay graphics are elegantly simple to make UX smoother. In-app purchases are quite balanced, and although you'll be always tempted to purchase a booster pack, you shouldn't feel you are losing because of it. Without doubt, one of the best releases this year. Congratulations, Blizzard: WOW might not be what it was anymore, but perhaps there's a new beginning in mobile.

CARD CHANGES
* Leeroy Jenkins (Neutral) now costs 5 (up from 4)
- Leeroy Jenkins created a strategy that revolved around trying to defeat your opponent in one turn without requiring any cards on the board. We like having a variety of deck types but taking 20+ damage in one turn is not very fun or interactive.
- The amount of dust that you get from disenchanting Leeroy Jenkins has been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft it.
* Starving Buzzard (Hunter) now costs 5 (up from 2) and now has 3 Attack and 2 Health (up from 2 Attack and 1 Health)
- The amount of cards Starving Buzzard allowed Hunter players to draw ultimately ended up being too excessive for its low cost. This change will allow the Hunter’s opponent more time to react to both the Starving Buzzard and the cards drawn by its power.
BUG FIXES
* Improved overall performance, especially for iPad 2 and iPad mini.
* Resolved an issue where the Hearthstone client could sometimes crash when returning to the client from a locked iPad state.
* Hired gnomish engineers to improve the in-game chat bubbles to reduce clipping.
* Resolved various bugs and issues.
