"ABC, As Easy As 123!"

THE VERDICT

From the makers of the fabulous Eli Explorer and the hugely popular kid’s number game, Star Gurus, Colto presents the recently updated ABC Gurus.

This bright, engaging, and visually enchanting language app is specially designed to help kids get to grips with the alphabet, by engaging them with the things the love most: vivid colors, friendly narration, loads of interaction and lots of coloring in!

Best of all, the new update comes with19 new words and animations and allows kids to play and learn in 5 international languages: English (GB and US), Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.

This beautifully designed, easy to navigate app lets kids switch between lower and uppercase, choose a letter and practice hearing it phonetically, then in a word beginning with that letter.

They can color in, take a snapshot and enjoy the fantastic interactive sound effects. Your little ones will absolutely love it – and with its child-proof features, you will too.

THE PROS

The app is beautifully designed, with gorgeous graphics and vivid colors which will inherently appeal to kids – they will love all the animations and characters.

ABC Gurus makes learning the alphabet a game, and is much more engaging than that boring old ‘alphabetic song’.

Once kids have picked a letter, they can color it in and decorate it how they want, then tap on it to see a word and hear how it sounds. As they customize their letter, e.g., with eyes and a mouth, your kids will be wowed as the eyes look round and stare, and the mouth opens and make noises. Each word is accompanied by an animation too, which is tappable and fun.

The app doesn’t feature an in-app purchases or adverts, and the ‘Parents and Privacy’ is shape-password protected, giving parents peace of mind that their kids can play safely, unsupervised. For added security, this section can be removed completely via the settings menu.

The fact that the game is available to play in so many languages adds to its longevity: not only does it expose your kids to new words and sounds in different languages, but also gives them reasons to keep playing for longer.

The app itself is available in English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese , Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.

THE CONS

We love this app. It’s bright, engaging, and fun. Kids will love to play again and again, and with the introduction of new languages with the recent update, there’s even more reasons to keep playing.

The next step would be to introduce a ‘test’ zone where kids could match the sounds with the letters or words as they hear them.

THE VERDICT

From the makers of the fabulous Eli Explorer language game for kids, Colto presents yet another brilliantly creative, bright and engaging app for kids.

THE CONS

There’s not much to dislike about this app – it’s sleek, easy to handle and ticks most of the boxes in terms of pleasing kids whilst educating them at the same time.

If anything, it would be nice to see some variety in the words – each letter has just one word to go with it, e.g. “U for umbrella”.
