Learn Words is an easy way to expand your vocabulary in a different language. There are, of course, many apps that already offer up this service, but Learn Words proposes a new approach: just add the words you want to memorize, and the app will automatically load information relating to those words and the context in which to use them. Choose from Spanish, English, French, German and many other languages, and then just go with the flow and enjoy the range of features the app has in order to improve your skills with your chosen language. While the idea is quite simple to grasp, we would recommend that you watch the introductory video first.
Something that really raises the bar is the 'Easy Import' function: through this function you can add words from different sources, including being able to lift them directly from photographs. Let's imagine, for example, that you're reading a novel and you see a new word, you're walking along the street and see a notice you don't fully understand, or you're reading a menu and you're not sure about one of the ingredients. Simply take a photo. Learn Words will then recognize the word and add it to your list.
Once you have your list of words, you can then add images, example sentences and many other learning aids to ease the memorization process. Later you can use them to play games (crosswords or listening games, for example), complete writing exercises, and more.
The best thing about Learn Words? It's really fun and accessible, which makes it ideal for kids and/or the early stages in the language learning process. The information is presented nicely, and the crisp, clear aesthetic really supports the learning process. The 'Easy Import' function does exactly as advertised and makes direct translations from real-world contexts simple.
One thing we're not so keen on is the fact you need to buy learning aids from the store to attach suggested information to a word. If not, you need to do this yourself manually. In any case, the app does offer some free learning aids, following which you'll be able to make a decision on whether you want to buy more.
