A sci-fi tactical turn-based game
Tactical Heroes is a sci-fi tactical game set somewhen in the far future. It's clearly inspired by UFO and umpteen prior tactical games, but also adds some city and resource management to the mix.
Therefore, we have some gameplay oriented to real battle, perfectly turn-based where cover is as important as sheer luck (percentages of success are on-screen, deal with it) and you have to do your best to balance your team strengths and weaknesses. If you feel like a tactical mind, you are going to love this.
The management part is a little bit duller, and somehow more oriented to lure impatient souls to the in-app store. Anyway, what you do in your camp will affect how your squad performs, because their upgrades and weaponry depend on how good is the best equipment you can afford. Likewise, you have to build your defenses, because the evil guys will eventually strike back.
You must not forget that this is a freemium game, so some things like levelling up or upgrading stuff will take some time, time you can of course save by kindly spending some shiny tinkling coins. Currency works with three different resources. Some defense power-ups sound too much like pay-to-sleep-like-a-log, though.
In the end, a great tactical game, what is what you were looking for. It might feel slow for players coming from other genres, but it's really recommendable.
