Age Of Empires And Other Microsoft Classics To Conquer iOS And Android Soon
Watch out, PC nostalgics and Xbox lovers, because this is good news for you. Microsoft will offer its console and computer games for iOS and Android this same year through a licensing deal with Japanese developers, Klab Inc, Reuters reports. And guess which title will be the first one in doing the honours? Something so epic and huge as it is Age of Empires, the king of strategy games.
The game will be available as free-to-play worldwide by the end of the year, followed by other well-known titles in the Microsoft’s catalogue – Commandos and Flight Simulator 2000, anyone?-.
Without a doubt this announcement opens a new window of distribution for those top-notch oldies that hooked gamers in the pre-smartphone era. At the same time, it may set a new milestone for the strategy games, a genre that certainly bodes well with the tablet interface and, last but no least, Microsoft is throwing the ball onto Nintendo’s roof. Can you imagine playing Super Mario in your phone one day?
