Companies Engaged In A Big Race For Video Messaging! Now, Skype!

Video madness. Looks like the biggest companies that are all for bringing people together have begun a race to integrate short videos among their services. There you have Twitter with Vine, whatever Facebook is reportedly intending to add to Instagram and now it's Skype's turn with Skype Video Messaging. Seriously, with this range of possibilities, if you don't make videos with your phone, it's because you don't want to.

Anyway, Skype Video Messaging will alllow users -yes, you've guessed it- to record and send personal video messages from all versions of Skype (Windows, OS X, iPad, iPhone, Android and Blackberry) even when their contacts are not available. They'll be able to view your video from "any platform or device running Skype" as soon as they sign up, sources from the company explain. And the most important point: it's completely for free.

Following the current trend, the messages can last up to three minutes and, in case the receiver is using an old version of Skype, they'll get an URL and a code to open it in all kind of platforms. "Skype Video Messaging is easy and convenient, and only the contact you’ve chosen to receive your message can view it. (...) You can capture a fleeting memory, create a heartfelt reminder or simply tell a friend or family member “wish you were here” even when they aren’t online", says the company.

So, what service will you use to keep in touch with your family and friends? And finally, who'll win the race?
