Google Trips, for stress-free travel planning
Vacations should be fun. Remove the stress.
They say that going on vacation is relaxing. The perfect time to switch off, without getting worried or holding onto any stress. The problem is that, for many of us, preparing the vacation itself is stressful. Google has listened to our moaning, and has decided to launch Google Trips, a travel app that, while not particularly original, brings together everything you need in one place.
Google Trips gives us all the details of our trip in one place, including the hotel reservations (via Gmail access), and the locations saved in Google Maps.. The best thing? You don't need an internet connection, because once the content has been downloaded you can access it whenever you want, even if you're completely lost in a country you know nothing about.

Of course, Google is all-knowing, so don't freak out when you open the app and you see all your vacation plans already in a list. Download the specific content you want for your vacation and voilà! One click more and you can access your reservations (flights and hotels), things to do, saved places, day plans (suggestions for routes and tours), food and drink, getting around, and need to know information. (health, shopping, currency, etc).
We expected a bit more personalization, especially when it comes to getting from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. Even Google has things to improve, then. But in general, Google Trips is an incredibly useful tool for your vacation plans, and without a doubt makes it easier to deal with the trickier aspects of a trip. Don't forget, though, to download content for your trip before you leave, or you could find yourself asking in badly-pronounced Slovakian where the nearest WiFi hotspot is.
Do you think it's a good thing that Google helps plan your vacation, or is it an intrusive step too far?
