Preview: 'Plants Vs Zombies 2: It's About Time', Trailer, Info and Release Date Unveiled

After lot of rumors coming from here and there, Electronic Arts has finally unveiled some of the features Plants Vs. Zombies 2 is coming with, as well as it official release date for iOS: July 18th 2013. By means of a must-watch trailer, the well-known developer of Real Racing 3 and The Simpsons: Tapped Out teases us with a little of the anticipated sequel of Plants Vs. Zombies. In this trailer (after the break), the game’s tagline “It’s about time” gets crystal clear: there will be time-travelling in the gameplay. We don’t know how that will be implemented and if it will enhance or affect playability, but that will probably be the keystone of this sequel.

As you can see in the trailer, Crazy Dave (the character who uses to guide players through the upgrading system of the original game) is now gaining relevance by taking control of the time-travel machine, which is a homage to Back to the future‘s Delorean. Regarding new plants and enemies, the trailer shows at least three new plants – a boxer, a boomerang plant and a four-fold – but more are expected as well as different zombie types. In fact, since the game is featuring time-travelling through ages (In the trailer, Crazy Dave sets Ancient Egypt in his particular Delorean dashboard) quite probably we’ll see themed zombies and plants for each epoch. Actually, according to the images published by IGN, we can expect fighting Pirates zombies and traveling to the Far West.

There’s no available info yet about new game modes, pricing or release date for other platforms. We’ll keep you up-to-date as soon as we get more details. Keep tuned.
