Android Auto brings a breadth of options to connect to your vehicle

    8.3
    • Intuitive UI with large buttons
    • Sleek buttons
    • Incredibly easy to pick-up and use
    • Requires Android 5.0 and above
    • Doesn't work with every car screen

    "Rock Android in your car"

    THE VERDICT

Made for those who love listening to their favorite tunes while driving, but also have to use their smartphone, Android Auto makes it simple to get started. Simply connect your device into a compatible display, then, after Android Auto detects the app, get started. Once connected, Android Auto turns your smartphone into a second display, allowing you or your passenger to select what to do. This app brings classic Google features, like navigating with Google Maps, like TomTom, as well as the ability to listen to podcasts, music from your playlist, and more. Just connect and get started.

    THE PROS

What I truly enjoyed about Android Auto was how large and intuitive the buttons were, as this app truly feels optimized around the driving experience, with a great-looking UI, sleek buttons, and solid controls.

    THE CONS

Don’t expect, however, Android Auto to work with every car screen, as you will have to check the manual to see if it works. You’ll also need Android 5.0 or above installed, as this app won’t run on older devices running Jellybean and under.

Please do proper exception handling...no way to return to navigation if some app raises notification on background... No way to use any other applications(like alternative music player during) navigation... Returning back to old fashion style with windshield mount. Good idea, implementation needs much more work

It's fine when it works, but requires too much fiddling. I am constantly rebooting my phone to get spotify to work or rolling back updates to Google maps to stop it from crashing

Awesome features, I love using. Just wish morning applications were available within Android Auto.

Use AA primarily for music and navigation. Notifications do not work well, get message "there are many messages I can read from" (something like this). AA is unable to read any of my messages. Getting to my mileage tracking app is a PITA as I have to disconnect AA from my 2016 GTI, the music I was enjoying gets stopped, and after a few seconds I can finally get to the apps on my Nexus 6p. I've also made "ok google" voice requests, only to have them passed to a beta test AA compatible navigation app which has no idea "what year Trevor Noah was born", nor how to navigate me there... ? Otherwise, AA is working well.

It's a good overall app, it does need work in order to be a great app.
