The Livestock Census conducted quinquennially is the main source of such data in the country. Livestock Census is the Head Count of Livestock and Poultry. The Livestock Census in the country started in the year 1919-1920. Since then it has been conducted once in every 5 years. So far 19 Livestock Censuses had been conducted and the last census was held in the year 2012. The 20th Livestock Census-2017 is scheduled to be conducted from16th July 2017 and will end on 15th October, 2017. This census will be conducted for breed-wise number of animals and poultry (fowls) with their age and sex composition for various species across the country.
