Evolution: Battle for Utopia

If there's something we have being enjoying in m-gaming since roughly a year ago is a rising of games that combine two or more genres. Evolution is one of those games, clearly divided into two different gameplays: there's a long, essential stage when you raise your space colony by building buildings, hence getting resources and recruitment options; and a different style when you roam the map to meet NPCs and, why not, battle enemies.
The "management" part isn't as cool as in other games, but there's a wide array of options that will keep you entertained for a long while, though if you are a strict strategy player it will feel short. What is really bothering is that you can't multitask, so once the building times get too long, you have to run the game several times a day to optimize your resources and time. Some buildings only have purpose if you go online against other players.
The "roaming" is the best part of this game, as surprisingly there are a lot of interaction options and a storyline which is slowly unfolded through cut-scenes.
On the other hand, online combat is straighforward and disappointing. You find an enemy and starts a turn-based blow exchange in which you have little if any control other than very basic options. When you go solo it's a little bit more rewarding and there's a little strategy involved, mainly to decide whose you shoot first and when make use of your ultra-super-gauge-full powers.
In the end, a game that can be played for weeks given the amount of items, quests and characters to be found out, but also because the uncomfortable building system that stops you so often and obliges to pay too much attention to this game instead of playing and enjoying it.
