"A way to protect your children"

Kids want their own smartphone as soon as they realize it's a possibility. The internet, however, is packed with dangers, and the little ones need to be protected from them. Norton Family is a solution from Symantec that's been especially designed to support kids with their first venture onto the internet. The tool sends out alerts and controls every movement that kids might make online. This app is official, useful and secure.

There are many benefits to this Norton app. It lets you take comprehensive control over the activity your children carry out via the internet, and that applies to any device. Parents can receive alerts to keep them up to speed with the child's activities, filter webpages, and block inappropriate sites. If you're also worried about the time spent staring at a screen, with Norton you can limit the amount of time spent on the devices.

Unfortunately, the Norton Family app is only available free for 30 days, after which you'll have to fork out for the paid version which comes as an official license or an annual fee.

    Norton Family Parental Control

Keep kids safe online. The Norton Family app helps parents supervise online activity, enforce house rules and teach kids good Internet habits.

The Norton Family app, from the makers of Norton Security, is designed to help parents keep kids safe online, block unsuitable content, prevent oversharing and teach good Internet habits.[1]

"“Norton Family Premier offers an impressive range of parental control and monitoring features for parents of today’s hyper-connected kids.”

Monitor online activity so you can teach kids safe habits online

Search Supervision: Track your child’s search activities through the Norton browser in the Norton Family Portal

Web Supervision: Keep track of sites they visit and what they search for on the Norton browser or the Chrome browser, and set up rules to block access to specific types of content.

Parent Alerts: Get notified if the kids try to break a rule, so you can have a conversation about appropriate online activity and how to stay safe.

Location Supervision[2,3]: Know your kid's whereabouts with the ability to pinpoint the location of their device on a map.

App Supervision[2]: See what apps your kids have installed and control which ones they can use.

Text Message Monitoring[2]: Choose who your kids can text and monitor messages.

Time Supervision[2]: Limit the amount of time your kid uses the device.

Video Supervision[2]:Track the YouTube videos your child watched in the Norton browser or the Chrome browser.

Activity Report: Spot trends and emerging habits by reviewing a 30-day history of your child’s online activity in the Android parent app or the Norton Family portal.

Instant Lock: Grant or block access to all apps, browsers, games and more from the Norton Family portal when you need to enforce a break. Parents and kids can still connect to each other when the kid's device is in Lock mode.

PARENT TIP: Install the Norton Family app on your device for access to parental controls, and on your kid's device to enable monitoring. We recommend you disable existing browsers on your kid's device to ensure use of the Norton Browser and effective monitoring.

[2] Supervision features, except Web Supervision are premium features available free for a 30-day trial.
[3] Enabling GPS functionality can dramatically decrease device battery life.

Online safety is a growing concern for children and parents. Common threats regarding Internet family safety include: cyber bullying, obscene or offensive content, pornography, hateful messages and sexual predators. Children are naturally curious and may not always know when an online situation is unsafe. Fortunately, Norton Family can help monitor your kid’s online activity.

All this app does is take away your freedom. At one point it blocked gmail. GMAIL! Why does this app exist?

As far as I can tell, the program seems to work well on my son's Android phone, however it is a joke on my home computer. I have Windows 10 on it. With one click, all my son has to do is switch to guest browsing and all settings are bypassed. I spoke with Norton and they are aware of the problem, however they have no fixes available yet. Their suggestion was to have a discussion with my son about internet safety. Really??!! I also spoke with Microsoft, and there is no way to disable the guest browsing in Windows 10.

Wow. Just wow. For one of the most trustworthy security companies, I expected better. First, the servers were screwing up, and obviously on their side, and norton family was just messing up again and again. The house rules wouldn't update, and when I entered the pin, it said it was wrong, but it wasn't. The staff is uneducated in their job and just plain dumb. Very dissapointed...

It is good when it works. Some kids have rated it low but they should resolve their problems with their parents first instead of complaining about this app. It does what it supposed to do. BUT when Norton's servers go down or some other issue comes up you're doomed. It's freezing or blocking everything, not updating house rules ect. The customer care service from India is a joke. Sort out your server or whatever bug you have and get competent customer service people.
