In these post-apocalyptic times, you just never know when the undead are going to interrupt your jog around the block. In case of unexpected zombie attack (or any other kind of unexpected menace) while exercising, Safe Runner provides an emergency backup plan, reaching out to your contact to let them know what went down.
Complete the settings with your personal information, including the name and number of an emergency contact. Select the kind of exercise you'll be doing - running, walking, or pushing the pram - and get to it. The app will keep a running tally of how long you've been at it plus how many calories you've burned. However, if you suddenly run into trouble and it wants BRAAAAAAINS, simply pull your headphones out of the jack. After a ten-second countdown, the app will automatically begin an emergency sequence, sending distress signal emails with your location to your specified contact. It'll even take a short video clip of whatever threat's there to be captured, sending it to your contact and posting it online to a public file - just in case.
The majority of the time, though, you're just going to be using the app as an exercise tracker. It would be great if there were integration with the accelerometer in order to function as a pedometer as well, thus providing more accurate feedback regarding calorie consumption.
I kid about zombies, but there are all kinds of potential dangers out there, some chillingly real. You never know, an app like Safe Runner could just save your life.
