    Sleep as Android's review

Sleep as Android is both a smart alarm and a sleep tracker

    • Smart alarm
    • Ease of use
    • Design
    • Accuracy depends on the device (better on high-end devices)
    • It should include more advise

    "Sleep like a baby"

Either if you have insomnia or you are concerned about having a restful and healthy sleep, Urbandroid Team's Sleep as Android is the app you should try next. It's basically an app that take advantage of the microphone and motion sensor of your mobile device to track how well you sleep.

You only need to place your smartphone close to you - let's say under your pillow or on your night stand - while sleeping. Sleep as Android will process your movement and noise to determine your sleeping phases. That way you can have data on how deep and restful is your sleep and take measures about it. Notice the advise delivered by the app and keep it up with it to have more reliable historical data.

Sleep as Android isn't only a tracker though. It includes a smart alarm that will wake you up in the perfect moment. You only need to set the desired waking up time and it will sound a few minutes before, just when you are in the lightest phase of your sleep. That way you will feel well-rested and ready to take the reigns of your working day.

The accuracy of the app depends on the devices' built-in sensors. Still, the app concept is awesome and the design and usability unbeatable.

I'm not sure what happened in the last update, but tracking no longer works on my smart watch. I emailed "support" for help, but they were anything but helpful. I'm not a tech guy and they asked me to download some app that I didn't know how to use to "diagnose" the problem. That app didn't work either ?. Save your money, wait till the kinks r worked out.

I do like this app and it's rarely faulted me, but HOW and WHY does it often default to playing 'Eye of the Tiger' by Survivor through Spotify as my alarm when a) I don't have it downloaded offline and my internet is turned off b) I've asked for it to play my last listened to playlist, which it will do the first round then change it's mind. IT'S FRIKKIN' ANNOYING AND NOT MOTIVATING AT ALL.

Decent enough but noise never recorded as sonar is picked up the entire night so I end up with many recordings of a sonar noise and nothing else.

Inconsistent and Garmin watch add-on causes watch to reboot occasionally and stop tracking sleep. Good when it works

Major flaw: it has to be running to work. Meaning that if you're like me and keep open only what you really need then you'll easily miss an alarm next morning. Several phone brands close background programs automatically by default (and there's little you can do about it). I don't want to be late to work just because I forgot to launch and leave open this app every night (that's the purpose of alarms, to set them up and forget about them). So, no, I'm not keeping this app. P.S. for the devs: Maybe you didn't know, but full screen ads are today's most effective way to annoy and lose users.
