I've used Gaia for the usfs2016 maps, and found it very good for them. Only issues: power consumption when scrolling around our even having app open seems very high. And I'm not able to use different icons for waypoints I save, but maybe that's available if you pay more? I also use osmand+, and viewranger. Their power consumption seems slower.

Amazing app, a must for hikers. I've been using it on my travels in Iceland, Greenland and Nepal, Everest and more. Each time it work like a charm. No cons but a lot of pros. Little battery usage in airplane mode and very eaay to use. A true must.

The application has great potential, but the downloading of maps takes far too long to make the app useful. I've uninstalled it after it took weeks to download only few tens of megabytes of maps over a variety of LTE and WiFi connections. At the same time other apps downloaded hundreds of MB without any issues. Luckily I have other map apps that downloaded the maps before my trips that I took while Gaia was still downloading maps for my first trip. Android 6.0.1 on SGS5

Awesome almost everything I could ask for. My tablet is essentially a bootloader for gaia.
