Absolutely ESSENTIAL for finding your way around Japan! User interface is a bit clunky, and there is no good way to save a search (I ended up just taking screen shots for reference). But worked great for getting around Osaka and Tokyo. Even works for less major locales (like Tottori)!

This app has a problem where it will not show me the menu button to buy the Rail Pass Search Coupon on my Galaxy S7 edge. In order to purchase the coupon I had to settings, select accessibility, select Dexterity and Interaction, then turn on the assistant menu. I then had to open the HyperDia app, then press the assistant menu and hit the "More Options" button from the menu. I could then buy the coupon. This was too much work and the app could use an update.

If you misspell something just by a little or leave a space, it won't recognize the station. Very frustrating app. Stick to Google.

Good, but not without it's issues. I paid for the upgrade that let's you tell it to prioritize JR Pass routes. It's worth the modest cost. But even with that checked, it sometimes prioritizes routes that include non JR trains, even when all JR routes exist. And it sometimes generates routes that are unnecessarily complex, with multiple transfers, when much simpler routes exist. I used this and the Navitime Japan travel app. Sometimes this gave better results, sometimes the Navitime app did, so it's worth having both on your phone.
